Soundscape 001: whisker whispers by Sonyakisa

Every week, we share a piece of music that captures a certain mood, feeling, or moment—a soundtrack to slow down with.

Soundscapes is a space to discover sounds that don’t shout for attention but stay with you quietly. These tracks aren’t just recommendations—they’re invitations to feel, reflect, and wander a little deeper into your own story.

Bangalore is back with its dramatic weather—temperatures softened, skies moody, trees looking greener than ever. The roads lined with fallen leaves feel like they’ve been borrowed straight from the pages of a novel. Bangalore is one of those cities that makes you feel like you’re living inside a literary fiction film that never quite found its ending. It has its flaws, sure, but if you’re someone who finds joy in the tiny details—the sunlight through trees, cozy looking cafes, abandoned constructions, and the diverse crowd—this city quietly rewards you.

When it comes to food, Bangalore is generous. From elite fine-dine experiences to mind-blowing street food, it’s a playground for your taste buds. But for those who love music as much as flavour, the options narrow. Yes, many restaurants curate their playlists or host the live music on weekends, but very few take the live music experience to a different dimension.

There’s a particular kind of magic when an artist performs just a few feet away from you while you sip your wine and savour your plate. No stage barricades. No booming speakers. Just music, up close. And Celeste is one of the rare places where this magic is starting to take shape.

All the mainstream hits, all that familiar film music—we hear it everywhere: in clubs, pubs, and cafés, played on loop until it fades into background noise. But something shifts when you're sitting down with a glass of wine and a plate of something exquisite, and you hear a familiar classic—not covered, but reimagined—played by an artist just a few feet away. Or better yet, you hear an original song from a songwriter you’ve never met, sharing a piece of their story through melody. The music feels different. It stays with you.

For me, it wasn’t the food that first drew me to Celeste (though the food is undeniably stellar). It was the founder’s genuine passion for curating live music in a way that felt intentional. In a space where most venues would lean toward high-energy DJs, crowd-pleasing playlists, or commercial cover bands to draw a crowd, Celeste made a quieter, more powerful choice: to offer their stage to independent artists and songwriters—musicians with something to say, not just something to play.

In a city filled with places to party, sometimes what we crave is a place to pause. To begin the weekend gently, with music that moves, not just shakes. To listen, not just hear. If you're someone who loves food, values live music, and wants to support local creative voices, Celeste might just become your favorite weekend ritual.

One such unforgettable experience was witnessing Sumana, a singer-songwriter from India who’s now based in Paris. Her timeless French-inspired originals, performed acoustically in the heart of Koramangala, created a moment that felt almost surreal. It was one of those rare evenings where everything aligned—the music, the mood, the setting. Something I never thought I’d experience in Bangalore, and yet, there it was—elegant, heartfelt, and completely unexpected.

Follow @Sumanamusic on Instagram and Spotify to support her in her creative endeavors and stay tuned for more of her heartfelt tunes.

What made it even more special was that it happened right here in Koramangala—a neighborhood more famously known for its buzzing pubs, loud music, and party energy. To sit in that same part of town and hear acoustic renditions of delicate, timeless French music felt completely unexpected. And yet, it was one of the most moving musical evenings I’ve had in the city. It reminded me that even in the noisiest corners, there’s still space for silence, nuance, and songs that speak to the soul.

And I’m glad I reached out to Celeste to bring Soundmatrixx into this space—an effort to share the message of what we do by creating intimate musical experiences for people who truly love and listen to music. Together, we’re launching a new series of events titled Stories Behind Frequencies, under the banner Celeste Unplugged.

This series is dedicated to singer-songwriters and emerging musicians—artists who are looking for a stage that values authenticity over volume, storytelling over spectacle. We offer them a space to be heard, to grow, and to connect with a listening audience.

The setup is cozy. A small stage, perfect for solo acts or 2–3 piece bands. Artists are invited to perform their upcoming originals or previously released work, and most importantly to share the stories behind their songs. These are not just performances - they’re conversations through melody.

The frequency of this blog is only going to increase—we’ll be posting at least once a week, exploring more of Bangalore’s hidden gems, vibrant communities, and experiences where music and food come together in the most unforgettable ways.

Our focus will remain on music-first spaces, like Celeste, where artists and audiences can connect in meaningful ways.
If you’ve enjoyed this piece, do follow us on Instagram and other socials (@Soundmatrixx)—it helps us know that there are more of you out there who crave these kinds of experiences. We’ll keep sharing stories, recommendations, and updates so you never miss a chance to be part of Bangalore’s growing independent music scene.

Thanks for reading—leave us a comment if you like what we do and if there are suggestions to make this even more meaningful.
